Crohn’s is a form of Irritable Bowel Syndrome so the following diet is gentle on your digestive system and will boost your immune system.
•Lots of protein
•Drink plenty of water
•No smoking: greatly irritates your system.
Smoking increases your risk of developing Crohn’s disease, and once you have it, smoking can make the condition worse. People with Crohn’s disease who smoke are more likely to have relapses, need medications and repeat surgeries. Quitting smoking can improve the overall health of your digestive tract, as well as provide many other health benefits.
•Avoid sweets, alcohol, coffee, and cold drinks
•Limit dairy (use lactaid to help body digest milk enzymes)
•Eat a little fresh fruit (especially apples, pears and kiwi)
kiwi has more vitamin c than oranges!
•Potatoes (without their skin) ((good source of potassium))
•Cereals that are low in fiber (corn flakes, Rice Krispies)
If you can handle dairy:
Ensure or other liquid meals with lots of nutrients can help
Yogurt with probiotics or Kefir
Also, Swiss and cheddar cheeses will be easier for your body to digest
Make Sure to Drink:
•Lots of water
•Vitamin D (3,000-4,000 IU)
•cod liver oil: 2 teaspoons has vitamin D to help your body absorb calcium
Marshmallow root, slippery elm, aloe vera, Evening primrose oil
•Standing forward bend
