Experienced on both sides of the body, above and below the waist.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine it signifies Blood deficiency: you need more nutrients in your blood.

Avoid:
Alcohol, sugar, coffee, black tea, processed foods or artificial ingredients

Avoid hot, spicy, fried foods

Acidic and nitrogen containing wastes aggravate inflammation and spasms
AVOID: pork, milk, and cheese

Limit:
Wheat, carbs, cereals, grains
vinegar, pickles, tinned foods
tomatoes, cooked spinach
margarine, eggs, yogurt, milk chocolate

Eat:
Warming diet

Beef broth, Soups with vegetables

Leafy greens (kale, chard, spinach, collard greens)
Salad greens with lemon juice and salt

Beets, Winter squash/pumpkin, sweet potatoes, carrots, corn, parsnips,
yams, peas, onions, leeks, garlic, turnip, mushrooms (including oyster
and shitake)

Fresh fruits, Goji berries, Stewed fruits, dates, figs, longan berries, grapes, cherries

Sunflower seeds, Black Sesame seeds, Nuts

Molasses

Chicken, Mackerel, tuna, anchovy, oysters, mussels, shrimp, prawns, clams, seaweeds

Cooked whole grains, Legumes in general; especially chick peas, black, kidney, adzuki and fava beans

Spices:
Tumeric 400mg (1/2t 2xday) ((Try adding it to your tea: it reduces pain and inflammation))

Capsaicin (cayenne pepper) ((also available as a topical cream!))

Garlic, Cumin, Coriander, Ginger (fresh and powdered)

Drink:
Ginger tea (acts like aspirin: can also take ginger in powder capsule form)

Chamomile tea

Spring water

Veggie juices (carrot and beet,
especially)

Coconut water

Coconut milk

Epsom salt bath: 1/2-2c Epsom salts and 1/2c baking soda before bed

Sleep with a heating pad

Restorative yoga (great first thing in the morning):
Eagle pose
Standing forward bend
Legs up the wall
Knees to chest
Cobra
Seated forward bend over a bolster

((Focus on gentle movement and deep breathing from diaphragm))

Acupressure, Acupuncture, and Massage:
Ren4 (below navel), ren6, st36 (meeting of tibia and fibula)

Acupuncture is excellent for fibromyalgia.

Massages with rosemary and lavender:
creates heat and friction, enhances circulation, cleanses chemical impurities
