Tasty Tuesday: Poached, Chocolate-Dipped Apple Chips

20131220-153725.jpgI actually made these a bunch of weeks ago (with fresh-picked apples)
But, just because time has escaped me doesn't mean I'll neglect to share the deliciousness with you!

These would make a great Christmas Eve treat.

Poached, Chocolate-Dipped Apple Chips

You'll need:

Granny Smith apples (as many as you can gather–you can never make enough apple chips
Water (just enough to cover apple slices in the pan)
Cinnamon
Cardamom
Ginger
Cloves
Star anise

Instructions:

•Slice apples with a mandolin (if you don’t own one of these already, go purchase one: it is ENTIRELY satisfying to slice things paper thin, effortlessly)

•Place in frying pan, evenly distributed (try not to overlap them)

•Cover with water and spices.

•Bring to boil and then simmer till almost all of the water has been absorbed

•Transfer slices to baking sheet and bake at 275 (low) till crispy!

Enjoy as they are (yum!) or:
Dip in melted chocolate.

Make as many as you can–they go FAST!
