PlanetJoy Massage Client Feedback

Allison Sprouse, 45

I trust Joy because she does great work and truly cares about her clients’ health.

PlanetJoy is a total body relaxation experience. It’s quiet and soothing. Pressure is always perfect and if there are trouble areas, Joy focuses on them.
Bonus: My migraines are gone!

A monthly massage gives me something to look forward to and it helps me stay on top of health concerns before they happen.

Joy can tell when something is wrong with my body that I wasn’t aware of! True story. She discovered I needed adjusting when I never knew anything was wrong. I went to my chiro and she was spot-on!

Jacob Graham, 35

Highlights of a PlanetJoy massage: the attention she pays to my issues, the care she takes, the tenderness and responsiveness to my body. She reads it well.

I’ve had relatively extensive massage experience, but this is my favorite. Joy is not in any way overbearing. She is considerate, quiet, and I get the sense that it’s a deep practice for her.

What has pleasantly surprised me? Just how relaxed I feel when I leave.

Deb Kirtland, 52

Joy relieved some tension/knots/pain that my chiropractor could not – and the relief was quick and fairly permanent.  I say “fairly permanent” because it’s my life style that makes me have flare-ups.

What concerns or worries have been taken care of?  Neck pain, shoulder and upper back tension is less overall.  Also, being able to sign up for packages and pay in installments creates less stress about affordablility.

What has pleasantly surprised me?  How relaxed I am on the table.  I thought I would be uncomfortable with having someone massage me, but I don’t because of PlanetJoy’s environment and JOY!

Bevin Yowell, proudly almost 40!

Did you have any objections or skepticism about signing up for massage package? At first, yes. I was concerned about $ & Time.

What are some highlights of the experience? Pricing options are awesome and Joy’s massage skills are the best that I’ve experienced.

What concerns or worries have been taken care of? $ and time actually worked out well!

What has pleasantly surprised me? I find it easy to make the time.

What is most satisfying about the experience? I feel amazing and I’m more in tune with my body and how my body holds stress.

Asechiah, age 42

Joy was recommended to me by several people. The experience has been great, and I absolutely trust her skills and knowledge.

It’s a very soothing experience. Joy is very easy to communicate with, taking in account the unique set of health issues I’ve had.

Joy has helped me make serious strides in the past year, I’m very thankful. Pain has been much more manageable. See the light at the end of the tunnel.

What has pleasantly surprised me? Sense of energy has been returning, overall body balance is much improved
What is most satisfying about the experience? It’s good to have someone you can see eye to eye with regarding your health and the necessary steps it takes to get there. Joy is very encouraging.

PlanetJoy: Year of Massage {client feedback}

ALLISON

What do you personally get out of the Year of Massage?

I have something to look forward to each month. It’s a time set aside just for me.

Why do you recommend YOM?

Awesome stress relief and relaxation. If you book in advance, you’re giving an amazing gift to yourself each month.

What would make YOM even better?

I’m thrilled with it as it is. The price is affordable and I love the friendship I’ve developed with you!

Absolute favorite part of YOM:

Flexible scheduling and willing to work around zany events in my life without batting an eye.

image

CINDY

I like committing to a year& the payment plan.

I love coming for my monthly massage because I know I’m gonna get healing in many ways.

I would pay full price but grateful I don’t have to.

I love reading your articles& learning from you.

I love your pink hair!!

image

ROS

What do you personally get out of the Year of Massage? ((What is/are the main impact(s) it has on your life?))

Scheduling regular massages gives me a time each month devoted exclusively to making me feel AWESOME.

It reminds me that it’s important every once in a while to do things that aren’t goal-oriented, but are really just me-oriented.

I find that if I just schedule massages when I feel like I need one, I don’t have as many as I should, and it’s too easy to talk myself out of them.

Signing up for a whole year of massage bakes this important self-focused activity into my routine.

Why do you recommend YOM?

It’s important to have ME-time, and to intentionally show yourself some self-love. It’s a terrific self-present :).

Absolute favorite part:

I love the heated table, the scented oils on the headrest, and the great company!

image

SUZANNE
I benefit from massage in the following ways:

A. I am generally touch- deprived, so this gives me a chance to experience touch.

B.  My muscles smile when I have massage– and for several days afterward.

C. It’s a time of complete disconnection from the frenzy of life.

D. I love Joy– her spirit lifts me up!!

I’d recommend it to anyone (and I have!) who likes to relax.

image

LINDA

What do you personally get out of the Year of Massage? ((What is/are the main impact(s) it has on your life?))

My body is so much more relaxed and I’m more aware of my body tensing up throughout my days, especially during stressful moments.  It very well knows when it’s time to visit Planet Joy each month to rediscover, and once again release, my inner fluidity.

The chronic pain I deal with from arthritis, fibro, etc. is lessened now, also.

More purposeful relaxation and less pain.  Along with some of the best discussions ever.

Priceless!

WHY do you recommend YOM?

I’ve not tried a wide variety of massage therapists, but from the few I have visited, Joy’s has been the most gentle, yet wholly effective for my body’s specific needs.

There’s also a kindred spirit connection that makes it feel like I’ve known her forever, and peeps like that are definitely amongst of the cream of the crop, in my opinion.  :o)

What’s your favorite part of YOM?

You go above and beyond to accommodate, you are understanding when appts. need changed or cancelled, you send reminders, and then often remind us to check the reminders (lol), you nurture our bodies and spirits, you keep us laughing and creative, you provide such a warm and inviting space within your home that is so incredibly comfortable, AND you remind us to drink plenty of water.  :o)

You take such good care of your space kittens and we appreciate you, big time!!!!

Thanks for all you do to help us maintain wellness and blissipline in our lives.  We love life on Planet Joy!!!

image

SAVANNA

It is so nice to just take an hour a month for myself. I also just feel a lot better. I tend to have less upper back/neck/shoulder pain and fewer headaches.

I would definitely recommend this to friends. It is very affordable, much more so than many of our local spas, etc. While it is a bit of a financial investment I have found that it is so worth it.

Debt-free by July 2014: progress report

I’m less than $1000 away from the halfway point!

At this point I’m starting to wonder what I’ll do to celebrate and how much it will change my life to be debt free.

My ultimate goal is to be debt free by my birthday in July. But I know that it’s more realistic to expect to make it happen by November.

If you’d like to help there are two ways to do so and there will be more ways coming soon!

1) If you live in Staunton, schedule a massage!

My current specials are: 20140305-122121.jpgcontact me at JoyBoardman@gmail.com to schedule.

It’s not too late to sign up for this either:20140305-122326.jpg

Or maybe a gift certificate?20140305-122347.jpg

2) The second thing you can do (especially if you aren’t local) is shop in my etsy shop!

www.ArtisticDrama.etsy.com

I’ll be posting my March bath crystals soon! (Aromatherapy Epsom salts which are awesome for sore muscles and detoxifying your body!) I have new ones every month and specially crafted for every zodiac sign.

Financial Peace Cliffs Notes: My new savings plan

Just skimmed through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace Revisited book. (A friend loaned it to me because I’m attempting to get out of debt by July of this year.)

The book was too wordy for me as I am a more “just do it” kinda gal.
I did like the Baby Steps section as it is an easy to follow action plan.

Here’s my new plan for my finances:

Step 1: save $500 in emergency fund (high interest account which I won’t tap into except for emergencies

Step 2: pay off all debt (in the book he talks about paying off the smallest debts first–I’ve been paying off huge chunks at a time to all of my loans:

I only have 4 loans left and I’ve been putting all of my income–after paying rent, setting aside $25 for emergency spending, and tithing 10% to charity (now I’ve started giving 15% instead of 10%, by the end of the year I want to be giving 25%)– into paying off my loans. I divide the money into 4 chunks — 2 large chunks for my high interest loans and 2 smaller chunks for my lower interest loans. (At this point I’m totally disregarding any payment amounts set by my loan lenders– I’m just hacking away as much as possible every single month) Once a loan gets hacked into a small enough piece where I can pay it all off, I do that and divide whatever is left over among the remaining loans.

I’m almost halfway done paying my loans off and I only started in November.

Step 3: once my debt is gone (hopefully by July, definitely by December) save 6 months worth of living expenses in high interest account

Step 4: open a Roth IRA and place 15% in the account every month

Step 5: get insurance–full coverage!!!!

Step 6: save for trip

Step 7: look for house

Step 8: give away everything else.
(In other words:
•I’ll have no more debt
•I’ll have a quietly growing emergency fund
•I’ll have 6+months of living expenses accumulating interest
•I’ll be actively saving 15% for my retirement every month
•paying a premium on insurance
•saving for travel every month
•paying rent
….and the rest can all be used to help other people: my loved ones, my community, and globally (at this point I want to give 10% to each)

It feels good to have a plan. Do you have any tips for saving money or spending it wisely?

Feb 26th Balsamic Moon: Reflection Questions

Reflection Questions

When you think back upon the last month what sticks out for you?

What were the most significant experiences, successes, challenges?

What would you like to create, or put your energy into, this coming month?

Did you write down your intentions for the year 2014? if so review them and see if these intentions are working for you. If not, it is not too late!

My Answers:

When you think back upon the last month what sticks out for you?
Nothing really went the way I intended it to go but organically it continued to flow together. Life will keep going regardless of my plans.

It was an emotional month and I learned how best to reach out and receive (as well as give) support.

What were the most significant experiences, successes, challenges?
*Client party with my friends (so much laughter!)
*Internet-free weekends
*Opening ceremony for the Olympics
*Found out about the Vida savings program
*Fabulous evening making seed-bombs at the HourEconomy potluck
*Was asked to house-sit for my old house for 5months
*Dinner with Caity’s family
*Moms birthday
*Amanda moved out
*Connecting with Katy
*Naked Lady swap

What would you like to create, or put your energy into, this coming month?
I want to go out and connect outwardly. Because it’s winter I’ve been staying in and connecting from home but I really want to be out and about.

I seriously want to MAKE things. I’m experiencing a blockage and need to just begin!

Did you write down your intentions for the year 2014? if so review them and see if these intentions are working for you. If not, it is not too late!

For March:
Fun:
•Visit animals at SPCA
•Get crafty

Service:
•Give 15% of income to charity

Work:
•Set timer when working
•Make at least $1250/month (trying to be debt free by July)

Health:
•No phone Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday
•Ask friends to come over and walk downtown with me

Reflection Questions for the Full Snow Moon, Feb 14th, 2014

Ask yourself these reflection questions under the light of this Full Snow Moon:

What am I creating?

How am I expressing my love and appreciation to the people in my life?

Am I receiving love and appreciation from the people in my life?

What is the light of the full moon illuminating?

What new insights have I gained during the last phase of the moon while taking action on my intentions?

Am I having any strong emotional experiences, joy, sadness, depression or inspiration?

Am I having trouble sleeping?
20140214-132816.jpg
My answers:

What am I creating?
A business of helping others (especially women) reach their full potential: physically, mentally, and emotionally.

How am I expressing my love and appreciation to the people in my life?
Service (cleaning), notes of encouragement, cooking, spending time

Am I receiving love and appreciation from the people in my life?
Yes. Not a necessarily equal amount but, yes. Everyone shows love in different ways.

What is the light of the full moon illuminating?
How I can love myself and others and give fully and enjoy myself while helping others.

What new insights have I gained during the last phase of the moon while taking action on my intentions?
God will provide miracles, love is the most important thing, a clean home refreshes the mind.

Am I having any strong emotional experiences, joy, sadness, depression or inspiration?
I was very depressed and extremely tired at the beginning of the week but since then I’ve been peaceful and content and appreciating what I have. I’ve even been inspired to cook again.

Am I having trouble sleeping?
Because of my cats, yes. They still wake me up a couple times a night. But I’ve also been sleeping a LOT so maybe that makes up for it.

So much MORE than a collage party!

“I know I said it a bunch of times, but I still want to say ‘thank you’ once again for the collage party and for your insightful prompts on the making of the collages. As I said, I’ve not done anything that was free-flowingingly (I make up words sometimes) creative in many years. It was a great experience for me on so many levels.

So again, THANK YOU! And I do plan to attend more sessions to continue learning to allow myself to expand into more spontaneity and creativity.”

-Jen

20140108-202338.jpgJen with one of the wonderful collages she created.

Saturday was kind of life-changing for me when I saw how much these collage sessions can mean to other people.

What an incredible blessing it was to discover that I can do these fun collage parties and actually HELP people.

Here I’d initially thought they would just be good fun….I cannot express how excited I am to be entering the realm of art therapy.

20140108-202347.jpg
Of course, it is still whole bunches of pure fun, too.

I just feel in my bones that this is going to become an integral part of what I do.

I’d been trying and trying to fit massages and collages together (delighted at first to simply discover that they rhyme!)

Then the other night TJ said that my art “makes people feel good in their brains and their hearts” which made me realize that every part of my business touches people on some therapeutic level.

Even my squishy, awkward animals! They are therapeutically squishy to hold.

My fizzies make baths and showers therapeutic, too….

It’s so exciting to be continuously discovering my life path and how EVERYTHING fits together!!

20140108-202353.jpgI really hope you can come to one of the parties.

In January we are setting our intentions for the coming year.

It’s a very powerful thing to make your goals visual!

I will provide all of the materials (*if you want to bring extra magazines, you’re welcome to!)

It’s totally relaxed: no-stress!

Find out more all about the collage parties here.
20140108-202400.jpgStay tuned on Facebook for February dates!
The prompts for February will be:

Self-esteem, radical self-love& acceptance, what love means to you, and love for others.

I’ll give the option to make valentines for the women’s shelter in Staunton, the senior citizens center, etc.

((All collages above, except Jen's of course, were made by me: Joy Boardman))

What I’m Building in 2014

20131207-123316.jpgthank you to Alexandra Franzen for the inspiration.

*In 2014, I am building:

A place to Find Encouragement & Uplifting Positivity
For successful women Devoted to a better life and better health

“Have Fun, Be Relaxed: You Can Do It.”

*This building — my body of work — will include a few very helpful offerings for the world, including:

•Massages: 2x a month &90-min sessions

•Simple Aromatherapy: space fizzies, coconut butter massage bars

•Collage Parties: with wine and friends

*In order to build what I want to build, I’ll need to release / remove a few things from my world, including:

•Helplessness (ask for help)
•Depression (reach out, be grateful)
•Overwhelm (one bite at a time)
•Procrastination (set timers)
•Clutter (get rid of things every month)

*Because what I really want to be known for is:

•Adding, not subtracting
•Laughing, not complaining
•Positivity, not criticizing
•Moving forward, not standing still

*When things start to feel overwhelming, I will keep it simple by reminding myself that my job is simply to:

Be generous.

*And by this time next year, I will be SO proud to have completed ONE big thing, which is:

Pay off my loans so I can be debt free!

And THAT is my plan for 2014.
